Research on the Mechanism of Phycocyanin in Regulating Blood Glucose and Lipids

Nov,06,2019 << Return list

On August 19, 2025, NetEase published an article stating that phycocyanin can enhance glucose uptake by activating the AMPK signaling pathway, and downregulate key enzymes for liver gluconeogenesis to lower blood sugar; at the same time, it inhibits lipid synthesis genes (such as SREBP-1c), promotes fat breakdown, reduces total serum cholesterol and triglycerides, and increases high-density lipoprotein cholesterol.
